Once again Vale were pleased to support The Amenity Forum Conference as an original member and conference sponsor. The conference was held at Leicester City Football Ground on 15 October.
The winners of the inaugural amenity sprayer operator of the year awards were announced at this years Conference. The Awards have highlighted the exceptional skills and experience of all those involved, to demonstrate best practice for effective results and, above all, safe spray application in amenity situations. James Wright University of Leeds pictured left, runner up Spray Operator of the Year 2015 category – Sports and Amenity Turf using a boom sprayer. James is very proactive when it comes to planning and spraying. All his operators are fully trained to comply with best practice.
Ian Gower from Ian Gower Associates one of the two judges for Spray Operator of the Year with Geoff Wilson of Vale Engineering. The other visiting judge was John Robinson from Lancashire.
Daniel Clarke from DTMS, Spray Operator of the Year winner, category – Hard and Porous Surfaces/invasive weed species using hand held. Geoff Wilson first met Dan in1998 when assessing him for PA4.
Chris Muir, Training Manager with Mark Dempsey (Calderdale Council) Mark addressed the conference on the issue of “Integrated Control in Practice” and what it means to him, his team and the wider public and the challenges faced. Mark has worked with Vale for a number of years using Vale’s PKL spray system with all spray operators trained by Vale ensuring effective safe weed control as part of the integrated approach.
