Two exciting new job opportunities at Vale - Design Engineer and Internal Sales

Vale is a growing company focusing on supplying machinery to the amenity and municipal markets, its core products include Winter Maintenance Equipment and Highway Weed Control Systems. We intend to expand further into new markets and introduce extra brands and to do this we need to recruit some key members to play an integral role in our team at York.

We currently have vacancies for:-

  • Design Engineer/Draughtsman
  • Internal Sales / Sales Administration


1) Design Engineer/Draughtsman

Essential skills include:-

  • Proficient with the Solidworks 3D Computer Aided Design Package and the Sheet metal design feature within it
  • Previous practical experience of sheet metal work and agricultural/off highway/trailer engineering
  • Be a clear thinker and have the ability to cope under periods of pressure and high work load
  • Prioritise and manage multiple projects at any one time
  • Be self-motivated and self-manage
  • Have the ability to problem solve both during the design/manufacturing process and with machines in the field


  • Maintaining and updating current designs
  • Presenting innovative designs for new machines (concept to final production machine)
  • Updating and creating parts books, handbooks and bills of materials for current and new designs
  • Producing engineering drawings for in-house and sub contract manufacturing
  • Liaising with suppliers and customers
  • Manage our VCA trailer type approval accreditation


Sub-contracting of steel fabrications is key to our company growth however we intend to in-house some elements of our production and have recently invested in a 4m x 2m CNC High Definition Plasma cutter and 4m x 220ton CNC Press brake, you will play an integral part of introducing these into our manufacturing process.


2) Internal Sales / Sales Administration

Essential Skills include:-

  • Excellent telephone and IT skills
  • Confident with the ability to be pleasantly assertive on the phone
  • A quick learner with the ability to listen and pickup key information
  • Good use of english language – verbal and written
  • Ability to form strong business relationships with customers and potential customers remotely by phone


  • Telephone and emailing existing customers and generate prospective customers
  • Update the customer database with changes to customer details and new relevant information
  • Deal with customer enquiries including sending out information, emailing and quoting
  • Pursuing enquiries from early quotation to final order
  • Preparing delivery notes and sales admin
  • Organising advertising and exhibitions including company newsletters
  • Assistance with general office admin where required
