City & Guilds NPTC Level 2 Award in Safe Use of Pesticides replacing Grandfather Rights

Anyone born on or before 31st December 1964 who is applying professional products to land under your own control i.e. owner, occupier or rented is eligible to take the Grandfather Rights Certificate. (Certificates must be held to apply professional products by 26th November 2015.

Anyone born after this date or contracting will need to take the existing Pesticide Certificates (PA1 & PA2A etc.)

Grandfather Units

Unit 1 - Theory based day - Handling/storage (Mandatory) - The training lasts one day. From 9am until approx. 3pm.

Unit 2 - Practical day - Handheld applicators (i.e. knapsack Sprayers). The training lasts one day. From 9am until approx. 3pm.

Unit 3 - Practical day - Mounted applicators which includes Boom sprayer also qualify you for weed-wipe, slug pelleter and granular application. The training lasts one day. From 9am until approx. 3pm.

Candidates must take unit 1 and then either unit 2 or 3 or both depending on how they are applying the chemical.

The Grandfather units are assessed verbally/practically with a City and Guilds Assessor. The assessment would be on a separate day lasting approximately 2.5 hours per person if two units were being assessed.

The cost for Unit 1 and Unit 3 is £326 + VAT which includes the training, City and Guilds registration and assessment.

We are holding courses monthly at our site at Moor Farm, Moor Monkton, York, YO26 8JA. The trainers come from farming backgrounds so have a very hands on approach. The boom sprayer training and assessment would be undertaken on an ATV and mini boom sprayer.
